Tourist office Bogotá
The Instituto Distrital de Turismo (IDT), the public tourism institute of the Bogotá city government, runs 7 points where visitors get tourist information in person. Six are Puntos de Información Turística (PIT), at El Dorado airport, the Terminal de Transporte Ciudad Salitre, Monserrate, the Jardín Botánico, the Centro Internacional and Corferias, where the point opens only during specific events. The seventh is the Centro de Desarrollo Turístico (CDT) near the Plaza de Bolívar, open since 26 August 2026.
At the PIT, staff help visitors plan their stay with up-to-date information on sights, tours, cultural activities, events, food, accommodation, shopping, getting around and entertainment.

Learn more about Bogotá
Beyond the information desks, Tourist Office strings Bogotá's historic core into a one-day route that starts at the summit of Monserrate and then heads downhill to the Plaza de Bolívar, the Catedral Primada, the Botero Museum and the Gold Museum, ending at Chorro de Quevedo, where the city's street grid began in 1538.
Its page of things to visit in Bogotá also covers La Candelaria, Usaquén and the Museo Nacional de Colombia, notes the free entry at the Botero Museum and Casa de Moneda, and suggests trips out to the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral and Laguna de Guatavita.
Keep the city and national holiday calendar in mind
On a public holiday, offices, museums and transport in Bogotá may close or switch to holiday hours. The PIT Monserrate and the PIT Terminal de Transporte Ciudad Salitre keep their Sunday hours on public holidays, the PIT Aeropuerto El Dorado keeps its daily hours, and the PIT Jardín Botánico closes on the working day after each public holiday as well as on Mondays.
Colombia has 19 national public holidays in 2026 and 19 in 2027. Ten of them, and since 2026 the Day of Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá on 9 July, move to the following Monday whenever they fall on another day. Maundy Thursday and Good Friday follow Easter, and so do Ascension Day, Corpus Christi and Sacred Heart, which then move to a Monday. Since 2024, 12 October has been the Day of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity of the Colombian Nation. The 2027 dates follow the same rules, with Easter Sunday on 28 March 2027.
