Tourist office Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), whose VisitKL portal is the city's tourism website, publishes no walk-in tourist information point. Instead, 2 national tourism bodies help visitors in person. The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture runs the Tourist Information Counter at MaTiC, the Malaysia Tourism Centre on Jalan Ampang. Tourism Malaysia runs the Tourist Information Centre at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad on Merdeka Square and others at KL Sentral station, KLIA Terminal 1 and klia2.

On a public holiday, offices, museums and transport in Kuala Lumpur may close or switch to holiday hours. Kuala Lumpur has 15 national public holidays in 2026, including an additional Hari Raya Puasa holiday on 20 March, and 14 in 2027. The dates of Hari Raya Puasa, Hari Raya Qurban and Deepavali are subject to change. Hari Raya Qurban lasts one day in the city: its second day, 28 May 2026 and 18 May 2027, is a holiday only in Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis and Terengganu. At state level, Kuala Lumpur adds New Year's Day, Thaipusam, Federal Territory Day and Nuzul Al-Quran; in 2026, Thaipusam and Federal Territory Day share 1 February.
