Tourist office Atlanta
The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau manages 1 tourist information point, the Atlanta Visitor Information Center in Centennial Olympic Park, which is currently closed while the park is restored after FIFA Fan Festival Atlanta, with no reopening date given. In the meantime, two visitor centres run by other bodies help visitors in person: the temporary one of Martin Luther King Jr National Historical Park, run by the National Park Service, and the one at Oakland Cemetery.

Martin Luther King Jr National Historical Park Temporary Visitor Center
Location: 39 Boulevard NE, in Historic Fire Station No. 6
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday 09:00 to 17:00; all facilities are closed on 1 January, Thanksgiving Day and 25 December
Not run by the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau: the National Park Service runs it while the park's Visitor Center building is renovated.
Oakland Cemetery Visitor Center
Location: 374 Martin Luther King Jr Drive SE, at Oakland Cemetery
Opening hours: 10:00 to 17:00 daily; closed on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day
Not run by the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau: Historic Oakland Foundation, the nonprofit friends group of the cemetery, has its offices in the visitor centre.

A first day in Atlanta starts with the things to see in Atlanta around Centennial Olympic Park, where Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights stand within a few minutes of one another, before a trip east to Martin Luther King Jr National Historical Park.

On a public holiday, offices, museums and transport in Atlanta may close or switch to holiday hours. The 11 federal holidays under 5 U.S.C. 6103 apply to federal employees in both years. The Georgia State Capitol and the state office buildings close on the state calendar, which keeps 10 of the 11 federal days, moves Washington's Birthday to 24 December in 2026 and to 23 December in 2027, and adds 2 more days each year.
The Martin Luther King Jr National Historical Park Temporary Visitor Center closes on 1 January, Thanksgiving Day and 25 December, and the park stays open on the federal holiday in January, when it may run special events and programmes. The Oakland Cemetery Visitor Center closes on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
