The Boston guide on Tourist Office sets out the top things to see in Boston in one place. Its one day walk runs from the Public Garden and Boston Common past the Massachusetts State House, the Old State House and Faneuil Hall to the Paul Revere House, the Old North Church and the USS Constitution.
It then ranks the sights worth the time, from the Freedom Trail and Fenway Park to the Museum of Fine Arts and the Bunker Hill Monument, picks out free places such as Acorn Street and Beacon Hill, the Rose Kennedy Greenway and the Boston Harborwalk, and lists the concerts and games coming up.
Keep the city and national holiday calendar in mind
On a public holiday, offices, museums and transport in Boston may close or switch to holiday hours. Three official lists set the days. The 11 federal holidays under 5 U.S.C. 6103 apply to federal offices. Massachusetts adds Patriots' Day to its legal holidays, and the City of Boston publishes its own 2026 list of City-recognised holidays, which also includes Evacuation Day and Bunker Hill Day and names 12 October Indigenous Peoples Day. On Evacuation Day, City offices and Boston Public Libraries stay open and parking meters are free; on Bunker Hill Day the libraries stay open too.
