Tourist office Civitavecchia
The Comune di Civitavecchia has 2 tourist information points, known as PIT: one on Viale Garibaldi, facing the pedestrian area of Piazzale degli Eroi close to the port, and one at Largo della Pace, the port square where cruise passengers arrive and leave. In July 2026 the Comune awarded the running of both to the company Think Tank Network and handed over the premises for refitting before they reopen to the public. No reopening date or opening hours have been announced since.
Inside the port, Port Mobility staffs its own information points, and the Pro Loco di Civitavecchia, a tourist association, has its office in Piazza Piccinato.

A cruise call of a few hours is enough for the old town, and the guide to things to do in Civitavecchia sets it out as a walk that starts at the Darsena Romana, the Trajanic-era fishing harbour, and passes Forte Michelangelo and the Fontana del Vanvitelli on the way to Piazza Leandra.
From there the route reaches the Cattedrale di San Francesco d'Assisi, rebuilt after the 1943 bombing, and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale, where a renovation limits the open galleries to the top floor, before ending on the seafront at Il Pirgo. Keep the city and national holiday calendar in mind
Offices, museums, shops and local buses in Civitavecchia may close or run holiday hours on a public holiday. Italy's newest national date is 4 October, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, a holiday since 1 January 2026 that falls on a Monday in 2027. Easter Monday, the only one of the 12 national dates that moves, is 6 April in 2026 and 29 March in 2027, and every Sunday is a public holiday besides them.
The town adds one day of its own: 28 April, the liturgical feast of Santa Fermina, the patron saint that Civitavecchia shares with the town of Amelia. The 2024 programme ran from a Mass in the saint's chapel at Forte Michelangelo to an afternoon procession from the cathedral that ended with her statue taken out to sea for a blessing. The Palio Marinaro di Santa Fermina, a boat race between the town's historic districts, belongs to the same celebrations.
The Port Mobility infopoint at Varco Fortezza opens every day from May to October.
