Tourist office El Calafate
The Secretaría de Turismo of the Municipalidad de El Calafate, the town's municipal tourism department, runs 3 tourist information centres: the Rotonda centre at the entrance roundabout, the Anfiteatro del Bosque centre on Avenida del Libertador and the bus terminal centre. The Rotonda and Anfiteatro del Bosque centres open every day of the year from 08:00 to 20:00, while the bus terminal centre opens Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 14:00.
Staff at the centres give visitors up-to-date information on the town's attractions, infrastructure and services.

For the sights themselves, Tourist Office has a guide to visiting El Calafate, built around the Perito Moreno Glacier, the boat trips on Lago Argentino to the Upsala and Spegazzini glaciers and the Glaciarium museum.
The guide's one-day route runs from the Anfiteatro del Bosque through the Reserva Laguna Nimez and the Centro de Interpretación Histórica to the Costanera de Bahía Redonda and Glaciarium. Among the free stops, the guide points to the Plaza de los Pioneros, a monument garden for the settlers who founded the town.
National and local holidays in El Calafate
On a public holiday, offices, museums and transport in El Calafate may close or switch to holiday hours. Argentina has 17 national public holidays in 2026, including Monday 9 November 2026, declared a national holiday for the visit of Pope Leo XIV. Two of the 2026 dates shift to a Monday: General Güemes Day, from Wednesday 17 June to 15 June, and National Sovereignty Day, from Friday 20 November to 23 November. Monday 23 March, Friday 10 July and Monday 7 December 2026 are non-working days set for tourism, not public holidays.
Santa Cruz Province adds provincial holidays on 16 August, 27 October and 7 December, a date that is also the anniversary of the foundation of El Calafate.
