The numbers below match the pins on the map, the PDF and the video. The first 9 sights are seen on foot, in order, from the Alhambra down to the cathedral quarter and up through the Albaicín to San Nicolás; number 10 is an 8-minute walk from the cathedral.

Start of a 3.4 km (2.1 miles) route, about 45 min on foot without the visits, on Calle Real de la Alhambra. The Nasrid Palaces are visited at the time printed on the ticket; the Alcazaba and the Generalife are ticketed too. Walk on, 0.2 km, to the Palacio de Carlos V.
The Alhambra Museum fills the ground floor of the Palacio de Carlos V, and room VI shows Nasrid tombstones from the Rawda, the royal cemetery. The museum is free and closed on Mondays. The longest leg, 0.9 km and 11 min, leaves by the Puerta de la Justicia and runs down the Cuesta de Gomérez.
A 16th-century square laid over the Darro river, which still runs beneath the paving, below the Renaissance front of the Real Chancillería, with the church of Santa Ana at the eastern end. Carrera del Darro leads off it towards Sacromonte. Walk south-west, 0.3 km, to the Corral del Carbón.
Granada's only surviving Nasrid caravanserai, on Calle Mariana Pineda, entered through a horseshoe gateway carved with Arabic inscription. After 1492 it served as a coal yard, a playhouse and a tenement. It is part of the Andalusian Monuments ticket, free on Sundays. The Alcaicería is 0.1 km away.
Narrow lanes behind the cathedral where the Nasrid silk exchange once traded. Fire destroyed the medieval bazaar in 1843, and the passages were rebuilt with horseshoe arches and carved plaster. Plaza de Bib-Rambla opens at the western end. It is free to walk, and the Royal Chapel door is 0.1 km away.
Ferdinand and Isabella lie in marble tombs behind an iron screen, with Joanna and Philip the Handsome beside them. The entrance is on Calle Oficios, separate from the cathedral. Ticketed; closed on Good Friday, 25 December and 1 January, with no photos inside. The cathedral is 0.2 km away.
Begun in 1523 over the city's main mosque, with five naves and a circular Capilla Mayor; Alonso Cano's Baroque facade of 1667 faces Plaza de las Pasiegas. A separate monument from the Royal Chapel, with its own ticket; visits pause during worship. Walk north up Calle Elvira, 0.7 km, into the Albaicín.
The old Moorish quarter climbs the hill facing the Alhambra in whitewashed lanes, blind walls and carmen gardens; UNESCO added it to the Alhambra's World Heritage listing in 1994. It is free to wander at any hour. The last leg, 0.7 km and 11 min, climbs to San Nicolás.
The route ends on the terrace beside the church of San Nicolás, with the Alhambra on the ridge opposite and, on clear days, the Sierra Nevada behind. It is a free public viewpoint, open at all hours. Minibuses C31 and C32 stop at Plaza San Nicolás for the way back down.
The centre is walkable but hilly: the 9 stops on the route cover 3.4 km, about 45 min without the visits. The longest leg is the 0.9 km from the Palacio de Carlos V down through the Puerta de la Justicia and the Cuesta de Gomérez to Plaza Nueva, and the last one climbs 0.7 km through the Albaicín.
The minibuses of Transportes Rober, which runs the city buses, save the climbs: C30 goes from Plaza Isabel la Católica, on Calle Pavaneras, up to the Alhambra; C31 loops from Plaza Nueva through the Albaicín, stopping at Plaza San Nicolás; C32 links the Alhambra and the Albaicín; and C34 runs from Plaza Nueva to Sacromonte.
Sights outside the walking route:
Four of the numbered sights can be booked ahead. The Alhambra ticket covers the Nasrid Palaces, the Alcazaba, the Generalife and the Alhambra Museum, with an audio guide app. The Royal Chapel and Granada Cathedral are separate monuments, each with its own ticket and its own door. The San Jerónimo ticket includes the cloister, the church, the refectory and the sacristy.
