Leiden&Partners, the city marketing organisation of Leiden, runs 1 tourist information and visitor centre in the city: the VVV Tourist Office Leiden at Stationsweg 26, close to Leiden Centraal station. Its staff answer questions about Leiden, from ideas for day trips to boat rental and places to eat, and the centre has a free city map, walking and cycling routes, and Leiden gifts and souvenirs to buy. Shops, cafés and museums around the city centre, among them De Valk Windmill Museum and the Young Rembrandt Studio, serve as extra information points.

- 3 October Leidens Ontzet, the Relief of Leiden
Leidens Ontzet is the annual celebration of the city's liberation from the Spanish army in 1574, with festivities on 2 and 3 October. It is not one of the national holidays, but the municipality of Leiden lists Saturday 3 October 2026 among the days it is closed, according to its page on gemeente.leiden.nl, and the VVV Tourist Office Leiden is closed that day too, according to its page on visitleiden.nl. The Rijksmuseum van Oudheden is also closed on 3 October and De Valk Windmill Museum on 2 and 3 October, according to rmo.nl and molenmuseumdevalk.nl.
