The top things to visit in Phuket start in the Old Town, where a one-day walk links Jui Tui Chinese Temple, Chinpracha House and the Thai Hua Museum among the Sino-Portuguese shophouses. The south of the island adds Wat Chalong, the Phuket Big Buddha and Promthep Cape.
Patong Beach, boat day trips to the Phi Phi Islands and Phang Nga Bay, and free spots such as the Rang Hill viewpoint round out the guide.
Keep the city and national holiday calendar in mind
On a public holiday, offices, museums and transport in Phuket may close or switch to holiday hours. The Thalang Road tourist information centre stays open on public holidays, while the Tourism Authority of Thailand Phuket Office closes.
