Tourist office Pompeii
The Comune di Pompei, through its Servizio Cultura e Turismo, is the official tourism body of the modern town, and it keeps no walk-in tourist information office of its own. Visitor information on the ground comes instead from the Parco Archeologico di Pompei, the Ministry of Culture body that runs the excavations: an information office by the Porta Marina entrance and staffed desks at the Piazza Esedra and Piazza Anfiteatro entrances, the 3 points listed below. The town hall's tourism work is promotion, and its own pages present the free SmartLand@Pompei app, which gathers the events run by institutions across the area.
Where to find the tourist offices in Pompeii
The Comune di Pompei keeps no visitor counter: its Servizio Cultura e Turismo works from the town hall and covers promotion and cultural programming. The three points below are inside the archaeological site and belong to the Parco Archeologico di Pompei.
Tourist information office at Porta Marina
Location: Via Villa dei Misteri 2, 80045 Pompei, by the Porta Marina entrance to the excavations
Opening hours: The excavations open 09:00 to 17:00 from 15 October to 15 March and 09:00 to 19:00 from 16 March to 14 October; closed 25 December and 1 January
The park publishes no separate hours for the office itself.

The Tourist Office guide to Pompeii gathers things to do in Pompeii in one place: a one day walking route through the excavations that runs from the Forum to the Amphitheatre by way of the House of the Faun and the Garden of the Fugitives, and the eight sights worth planning a visit around.
It also picks out the corners that rarely make a first visit, the Stabian Baths, the frescoed House of the Vettii and the street food counters of the thermopolia, with notes on how long the site really needs and what is worth booking ahead.
National and local holidays in Pompeii
Public holidays change the rhythm of a visit more than most travellers expect. Council counters and banks close, many shops and museums change their hours and public transport runs a reduced service, so a day built around an errand or a market can come to nothing. Italy fixes its public holidays by law, and 2026 is the first year with twelve of them: Law 151 of 8 October 2025 added the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi on 4 October. Easter Sunday is not a separate entry, because the law already counts every Sunday and then adds the Monday after Easter.

Local holidays in Pompeii 2026
The Comune di Pompei publishes no local public holiday for 2026. Italian practice adds the feast day of the local patron saint to the national list, but the town hall publishes no date for it, so nothing is listed here. What the municipal statute does set is the Festa della Città di Pompei, a run of cultural, musical and religious events held in the second week of October.
The Parco Archeologico di Pompei publishes one closing rule for the excavations, 25 December and 1 January, and no separate holiday timetable for the information office or the entrance desks.
