Utrecht & Partners, the city's marketing organisation, known as Utrecht Marketing until the end of 2025, runs 1 tourist information centre in Utrecht: the Winkel van Utrecht / VVV on Domplein, at the foot of the Dom Tower. Its staff suggest museums, restaurants, places to stay and walking and cycling routes, and visitors can also pick up the latest city map there and buy tickets for the Dom Tower, DOMunder and Lofen Palace. The Hoog Catharijne shopping centre, next to Utrecht Centraal station, runs an information desk of its own that also helps visitors find museums and sights.

Not run by Utrecht & Partners: the desk belongs to the shopping centre, and its staff also help visitors find museums, shops and sights in the city centre.

The Dutch government lists 11 official holidays in the Netherlands in 2026, on 11 different dates, and Utrecht adds none of its own. Local holidays in Utrecht 2026
Utrecht has no local holidays on top of the national calendar. The official holidays of the Netherlands are set nationally, and the City of Utrecht's rules on shop hours name only those national holidays and a few special days such as 4 May and 24 December.
Under those rules, shops in general may open from 10:00 to 19:00 on Sundays and public holidays, except on New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Whit Sunday and Christmas Day, when the same hours apply only to food shops, supermarkets and takeaways. On Good Friday, 4 May and 24 December shops may open until 19:00 at the latest.
