Events in Paris
This October 2026, Paris moves into its autumn calendar of festivals, concerts and museum openings. Jazz sur Seine fills the city's jazz clubs from 9 to 24 October, the Salon des Antiquaires sets up on Place Saint-Sulpice until 18 October and Pariscience screens science films from 22 to 26 October. On stage, candlelight concerts pay tribute to Queen on 16 October and bring Coldplay and Imagine Dragons to the Eiffel Tower on 31 October, while Vivaldi's Four Seasons fills Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés on 14 October. In the museums, Monet, peindre le temps is on at the Musée de l'Orangerie and Louvre Photo opens on 4 November.

Public holidays in Paris to plan around
Public holidays change the rhythm of a visit more than most travellers expect. Offices, banks and many shops close, museums switch to holiday timetables and public transport runs a reduced service, so a day planned around a museum or a market can fall flat. France has 11 statutory public holidays, and Paris adds none of its own, which makes the national list the only calendar to check.

Local holidays in Paris 2026
Paris has no local holidays on top of the national calendar. The only additional days in mainland France, Good Friday on 3 April and Saint Stephen's Day on 26 December, apply to Alsace and Moselle alone.
Paris je t'aime notes that most cultural sites close on 1 May and that the museums run by the City of Paris, the Petit Palais and the Musée Carnavalet among them, usually close on public holidays, while the Eiffel Tower opens every day of the year. The airport welcome desks close on 25 December, 1 January and 1 May. The kiosks follow the hours of their newsagents, so a holiday can mean a closed shutter.
