Events in Paris
This September 2026, Paris hits its autumn stride. The Journées européennes du patrimoine open hundreds of monuments on 19 and 20 September, the Techno Parade rolls from Bastille the same day and Paris Design Week runs until 19 September. On stage, candlelight concerts salute Hans Zimmer and Vivaldi, and metal nights bring Evanescence to the Accor Arena on 17 September and The Devil Wears Prada to the Élysée Montmartre in October. In the museums, the Musée d'Orsay unveils Auguste Bartholdi and the Statue of Liberty while the Petit Palais opens its Eva Gonzalès retrospective.

Public holidays in Paris to plan around
Public holidays change the rhythm of a visit more than most travellers expect. Offices, banks and many shops close, museums switch to holiday timetables and public transport runs a reduced service, so a day planned around a museum or a market can fall flat. France has 11 statutory public holidays, and Paris adds none of its own, which makes the national list the only calendar to check.

Local holidays in Paris 2026
Paris has no local holidays on top of the national calendar. The only additional days in mainland France, Good Friday on 3 April and Saint Stephen's Day on 26 December, apply to Alsace and Moselle alone.
Paris je t'aime notes that most cultural sites close on 1 May and that the museums run by the City of Paris, the Petit Palais and the Musée Carnavalet among them, usually close on public holidays, while the Eiffel Tower opens every day of the year. The airport welcome desks close on 25 December, 1 January and 1 May. The kiosks follow the hours of their newsagents, so a holiday can mean a closed shutter.
