The numbers below match the pins on the map, the PDF and the video. The first 9 sights are stops on the walking route, from the castle hill down through Malá Strana, over Charles Bridge and through the Old Town to Wenceslas Square. The other 3 are off the route: the Prague Metronome by tram, the Žižkov Tower by metro and the Petřín Lookout Tower by tram and funicular.
Marked in orange: 33 smaller sights worth a detour. 22 of them sit inside the map frame, where a few dots in the crowded Old Town and Malá Strana carry no label; the other 11 lie outside it and appear only in the PDF, which lists all 33 with their addresses. Golden Lane is inside Prague Castle, and the Old-New Synagogue and the Old Jewish Cemetery are in the Jewish Quarter. Below are the 18 closest to the centre, then Golden Lane and the Dancing House.

Start of a 4.7 km (2.9 miles) route, about 55 min on foot without the visits. Prince Bořivoj founded the castle in the 880s; its courtyards are free to walk through, and one ticket covers St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, Golden Lane and St George's Basilica. Walk down, 0.8 km, to Malostranské náměstí.
On Malostranské náměstí, the Baroque church that Christoph and Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer raised and Anselmo Lurago completed, consecrated in 1752 once the dome was finished. Entry is ticketed. Head down towards the river, 0.6 km, to Cihelná.
At Cihelná 2b, in the Herget Brickworks on the Malá Strana bank, an exhibition on Franz Kafka opened in 2005, with letters, diaries and first editions. Entry is ticketed, and David Černý's Proudy fountain stands outside. Walk on, 0.7 km, to the bridge.
Charles IV founded the stone bridge in 1357 and it was finished in 1402; thirty Baroque statues line its balustrades. It is free and open to walkers at any hour. Cross to the Old Town and head north, 0.8 km, into Josefov.
Josefov, in the northern corner of the Old Town, keeps several historic synagogues, the Jewish Town Hall and the Old Jewish Cemetery; the Gothic Old-New Synagogue dates from the late 13th century. The streets are free, the Jewish Museum sites ticketed. Dušní Street is 0.2 km away.
On Dušní Street beside the Spanish Synagogue, Jaroslav Róna's bronze of 2003 shows a small Kafka riding on the shoulders of an empty suit, an image from Description of a Struggle. Free at any hour. Walk south, 0.3 km, to Old Town Square.
A marketplace since the tenth century, with the twin Gothic towers of the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the Baroque St Nicholas Church and the Jan Hus monument at the centre. Free and open at all hours. The Old Town Hall stands in the south-west corner, 0.3 km on.
Mikuláš of Kadaň mounted the orloj on the Old Town Hall in 1410, and the Walk of the Apostles turns above the square every hour. The show is free from the square; the Old Town Hall and its tower are ticketed. Walk south-east, 0.8 km, to Wenceslas Square.
The route ends on the long boulevard of the New Town, laid out in 1348 as the Horse Market; Czechoslovakia's independence was proclaimed here on 28 October 1918. Metro lines A and B meet at Můstek at its lower end, and lines A and C at Muzeum at the top.
The centre is walkable: the 9 stops on the route cover 4.7 km, about 55 min without the visits, starting at the top of the castle hill and ending in the New Town. The longest leg is the 0.8 km from Prague Castle down to St Nicholas Church.
Metro line A stops at Malostranská, below the castle, and at Staroměstská for the Old Town; lines A and B meet at Můstek, at the foot of Wenceslas Square, and lines A and C at Muzeum, at its top. Tram 22 climbs from Malostranská to the castle stops Pražský hrad and Pohořelec. DPP runs the metro, trams, buses and the Petřín funicular within the PID network, and a 24-hour or 72-hour PID ticket also covers the funicular.

Four of the numbered sights can be booked in advance. The Prague Castle ticket covers St Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, the Basilica of St George and Golden Lane with a 20-minute introduction; the Jewish Quarter tour adds entry to four synagogues and the Jewish Cemetery to a 2.5-hour guided walk; the Astronomical Clock ticket comes with a 20-minute introduction and an optional audio guide; and the Žižkov Tower ticket opens the observatory floor.
