Tourist office Prague
Prague City Tourism, the certified destination management organisation of the City of Prague and a joint-stock company the city owns outright, runs 6 official Prague Visitor Centres, every one of them open seven days a week. Four stand in the historic core and on the castle hill, at the Old Town Hall, at the corner of Rytířská and Na Můstku, in the third courtyard of Prague Castle and at the foot of the Petřín lookout tower, and two more meet arriving flights in the terminals of Václav Havel Airport. Staff answer questions in person, arrange guided tours and sell the Prague Visitor Pass, the city's official card.

Prague Visitor Centre at the Old Town Hall

The newest of the centres, with an exchange office, a small rest area and free Wi-Fi.
Prague Visitor Centre at Prague Castle

Open 365 days a year; three steps at the door mean the desk is not wheelchair accessible.
Prague Visitor Centre at Petřín Tower
Location: Petřínské sady, on the ground floor of the Petřín lookout tower in Malá Strana
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday all year: October to March 10:00 to 18:00; April to August 09:00 to 19:00; September 09:00 to 18:00

National and local holidays in Prague
Public holidays reshape a visit more than the weather does. Offices and banks close, museums and galleries may switch to a holiday timetable, public transport tends to run a reduced service, and the larger shops shut their doors altogether under a law of their own. The Czech Republic keeps 13 public holidays in 2026, set by Act No. 245/2000 Sb., which splits them into the seven státní svátky that mark national anniversaries and the seven ostatní svátky covering New Year, Easter and Christmas, with 1 January counted in both. All of them rank equally as days of rest.

Local holidays in Prague 2026
Prague has no local public holiday of its own. Act No. 245/2000 Sb. sets one national calendar for the whole country and the city adds no municipal day to it, so the 13 dates above are the entire list a visitor needs. Prague City Tourism describes the visitor centres as open 365 days a year, holidays included, and publishes shorter hours for them over Christmas and New Year.
A separate law, Act No. 223/2016 Sb., closes shops larger than 200 square metres on 1 January, Easter Monday, 8 May, 28 September, 28 October, 25 December and 26 December, and from 12:00 on 24 December, with pharmacies, petrol stations and shops inside airports and railway stations exempt.
