The Vienna Tourist Board, the destination marketing and management organisation of the City of Vienna, runs 2 tourist information offices under the name Tourist Info Vienna: one in the city centre on Albertinaplatz and one in the arrivals hall at Vienna International Airport. Both open daily from 09:00 to 18:00, and the board describes its Tourist Info team as on hand 365 days a year. Staff answer questions about sights, events and day trips in several languages, hand out free city maps and brochures and sell the Vienna City Card. In summer the board also sends mobile information teams out across the city on cargo bikes.

The Vienna guide on Tourist Office lays out a one day walking itinerary that begins at St. Stephen's Cathedral and works west through Hofburg Palace, the Spanish Riding School and the Albertina to MuseumsQuartier Wien.
Anyone with more time to visit Vienna will find the rest of the city there as well: Schönbrunn Palace and Belvedere Palace, the parks and markets that cost nothing, the crypts and plague memorials under the old centre, the small and curious museums, and the concerts and shows coming up.
Keep the city and national holiday calendar in mind
Public holidays change what a day in Vienna looks like. City offices and public authorities close, museums move to holiday timetables and shopping is limited to the large railway stations, the airport and the museum shops, so a plan built around one opening time can come apart. Austria sets its holidays in federal law, in paragraph 7 of the Arbeitsruhegesetz, the act on rest from work, which lists 13 days, and the City of Vienna publishes the same 13 for 2026. Two details are worth knowing for the year. 8 December falls in the Advent shopping season and the tourist board notes that shops open that day, and three of the 13 land at the weekend: 15 August and 26 December on a Saturday, 1 November on a Sunday. The two Tourist Info offices are the exception to all of it: the Vienna Tourist Board describes its Tourist Info team as on hand 365 days a year, and both offices keep the same daily hours.

Local holidays in Vienna 2026
Vienna adds no statutory holiday of its own. The one date the city keeps for itself is the feast of Saint Leopold, patron saint of Vienna and of Lower Austria, on 15 November: the Vienna education authority marks it as a day without school across the city, but it is not a legal public holiday, so shops, museums and the tourist offices keep their usual hours. In 2026 it falls on a Sunday anyway.
