This September, Florence lines up antiques, live music, opera and autumn exhibitions, and the listing runs into late October. The International Biennial of Antiques fills Palazzo Corsini from 26 September, and Corri la Vita crosses the city on 27 September. Wozzeck opens at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Kid Yugi and Artie 5ive play in October, Candlelight concerts honour Ennio Morricone and Ludovico Einaudi, and the Three Tenors sing nightly. At the museums, Broken arrives at Palazzo Strozzi and Beyond the Renaissance gathers Dürer and Parmigianino at Palazzo Medici Riccardi.

The International Biennial of Antiques

The 34th edition opens the Baroque Palazzo Corsini and gathers leading dealers of paintings, sculpture, furniture and decorative arts.

The 24th edition of the charity run and walk raises funds for cancer care, with an 11 km course and a 6 km walk.

National and local holidays in Florence
Public holidays change the rhythm of a visit more than most travellers expect. Museums and civic buildings move to holiday timetables, many shops close and public transport runs a reduced service, so a day built around a single museum can fall flat. Italy fixes its public holidays by law rather than by region, so the calendar that applies in Florence is the national one, with a single day added for the patron saint of the city. The law also counts every Sunday as a public holiday, which is why Easter Sunday, on 5 April 2026, is not listed separately below. One date is new this year, 4 October, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, which returns to the statutory list after fifty years and falls on a Sunday in 2026.

The three city offices publish their own rule for these dates. The Firenze Welcome Center and the via Cavour office both open on Sundays and public holidays, at 09:00 to 17:30 and 09:00 to 14:00 respectively, and the official site names 25 December and 1 January as the only days on which they close. On 24 June the city marks its patron saint with a morning procession through the historic centre, the final of the Calcio Storico and a fireworks display in the evening, so the streets around the Arno are far busier than on an ordinary Wednesday.
